Previous slide Next slide Agenda Weekly Bulletin Letter from the Principal New School Technology Shasta County Air District has deployed an experimental air quality sensor at our school. This sensor is not an official monitor, but can be used to gauge levels of particulate matter. The running 1 and 6 hour averages are considered more representative of ambient air quality. It can be accessed at: Purple Air PurpleAir sensors use a fan to draw air past a laser, causing reflections from any particles in the air. These reflections are used to count particles in six sizes between 0.3μm and 10μm diameter. Using one second particle counts, estimated total mass for PM1.0, PM2.5 and PM10 is averaged by the PurpleAir Internet of Things (IOT) control board.Readings are then uploaded to the cloud every 80 seconds or so where they are stored for download and display on the PurpleAir map. We fish, hunt, hike and play in one of our state’s richest areas for outdoor recreation. Students at our school enjoy the latest technology with every one having his or her own chromebook. We serve students from Preschool to 8th grade. Our local families enjoy many programs and events here including The Harvest Carnival, Christmas Pageant, Cinco de Mayo Celebration and numerous dances. This last year we added Talent Show Night and Karaoke Night. We love our volunteers and thank them for their ongoing support. If you like clean air, honest people and a wholesome environment then you’ll like our school. Our after-school program (SHARE) is so popular it usually hosts 70% of the kids each day. The robotics program in SHARE is well known in our area and has produced many winners at competitions in Redding. The food in the cafeteria is based on scratch recipes such as quiche, BBQ chicken and a full turkey dinner for the community at Thanksgiving. The curriculum is the latest California State Standards based and we feature STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math) projects. Our teachers and staff all live locally and are truly devoted to kids. We’ll see you at school!
